Indian Sources Announce Direct Flights Between Kabul and Amritsar

A historic agreement between Afghanistan and India to launch direct flights between Kabul and Amritsar promises a significant transformation in the two countries’ commercial relations.

According to Zharfa News Agency, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, a member of the Indian Parliament, announced that the agreement was finalized in coordination with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister of the Taliban. He described the move as the “most significant development” in bilateral relations and praised its impact on regional trade.

The frequent closure of the Attari-Wagah land border by Pakistan has long deprived Afghan traders of access to Indian markets. The direct Kabul–Amritsar flights, by establishing an air corridor, resolve this issue and pave the way for the direct export of Afghan goods.

Indian and Taliban authorities hope this step will mark the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.
