Salang Highway Closed for 10 Days

The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works announced the closure of the Salang Highway for 10 days due to the start of road resurfacing operations. This vital highway, connecting the northern provinces to Kabul, will remain closed from 26 Mizan to 6 Aqrab (October 17 to October 28).
According to Zharfa News Agency, Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, stated that the closure is aimed at improving the highway’s internal infrastructure. He urged travelers to use the alternative Doshi-Bamyan route during this period.
The Ministry of Public Works has called on citizens to adhere to the restrictions and utilize alternative routes for travel. The Salang Highway, one of Afghanistan’s most critical transit corridors, plays a vital role in linking nine northern provinces to the capital.
