Afghanistan Football Team Draws with Pakistan in 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers
The Afghan national football team drew 1-1 with Pakistan, effectively ending their chances of advancing to the final stage of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
According to Zharfa News Agency, Afghanistan’s national football team faced Pakistan in the return leg of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, 22 Mizan 1404 (14 October 2025), at Al-Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Kuwait. The match, which kicked off at 7:30 PM Afghanistan time, ended in a draw.
Afghanistan took the lead in the 5th minute of the first half, but Pakistan equalized in the 28th minute. This result mirrored the goalless draw from the first leg in Islamabad.
Both Afghanistan and Pakistan are in Group E alongside Syria and Myanmar, languishing at the bottom of the group table. Afghanistan’s prior losses to Syria and Myanmar had already dimmed their qualification hopes.
This draw has virtually eliminated Afghanistan’s chances of reaching the final stage of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. The national team must now focus on improving their standing in the remaining matches.
