Breshna Company Announces 30 Billion Afs Investment for Afghanistan’s Energy Self-Sufficiency
Afghanistan’s electricity provider, Breshna Company, has taken significant steps toward energy self-sufficiency by signing 20 memoranda of understanding over the past year.
These agreements, signed with private sector partners in the areas of electricity production and distribution, are hailed by officials as promising a brighter future for sustainable energy in the country.
Breshna officials announced that 11 of these agreements, valued at 30 billion afghanis, aim to generate approximately 10,000 megawatts of electricity. These projects, the latest achievements of Breshna, are part of the company’s comprehensive plan to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure.
Several private companies collaborating with Breshna have reported the start of their operational activities. These firms stated that their electricity production projects will be operational within the next two years, providing services to the public.
Meanwhile, many citizens continue to complain about electricity shortages. Mahmoud, a Kabul resident, says they sometimes receive only three hours of electricity per day.
He urged relevant authorities to intensify efforts to address the electricity shortage faced by citizens.
Energy experts believe Afghanistan is rich in resources such as solar, wind, and water. They argue that targeted investments in these resources could lead the country to energy self-sufficiency.
Through these initiatives, Breshna has not only strengthened electricity production infrastructure but also fostered job creation and economic development by engaging the private sector, demonstrating a firm commitment to tackling the country’s electricity challenges.
