Escalation of Tensions Between Kabul and Islamabad: Khalilzad Accuses Pakistan of Violating Ceasefire

Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace, accused Pakistan of breaching a 48-hour ceasefire and continuing attacks on civilians in Paktika, questioning why Pakistan cannot accept a peaceful neighbor.
According to Zharfa News Agency, Khalilzad wrote on his X account that Qatar had persuaded both sides to extend a 48-hour ceasefire, but Pakistan violated it. He condemned the attacks on civilians and cricket players in Paktika.
Khalilzad questioned whether Pakistan is a true neighbor to Afghanistan, urging it to halt attacks on Afghan soil.
Recent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have heightened concerns over escalating conflicts.
