Karzai’s Response to Pakistan’s Attacks on Paktika: Islamabad Must Reassess Its Policies

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Paktika province, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of civilians, including young cricket players.
According to Zharfa News Agency, Karzai, in a statement posted on X today (Saturday,18 October), expressed his condolences to the victims’ families.
The former president urged Islamabad to cease its aggression against Afghanistan’s people and territory and to revise its policies.
He emphasized that Pakistan, for its own benefit, must establish friendly and civilized relations with Afghanistan based on international principles.
Local sources reported that Pakistan’s military violated a 48-hour ceasefire, mediated by Qatar, by targeting areas in Paktika’s Argon district, leading to the death and injury of several civilians, including cricket players.
The ceasefire, extended until the conclusion of Doha talks, was breached by Pakistan last night. Karzai warned that continued aggression would harm both nations and called for an immediate halt to such actions.
