Ali Bilal, the prominent Afghan bodybuilder, successfully claimed the runner-up title in the men’s physique category at the 2025 Mr. Olympia world championships.
According to Zharfa News Agency, this accomplishment marks the second consecutive year that Bilal has secured the silver medal in these prestigious competitions, representing a major honor for Afghan sports.
The Mr. Olympia event began two days ago in Las Vegas, United States of America, and featured various categories. Bilal, in a tightly contested battle against formidable opponents, earned second place and demonstrated that he is one of the superstars of global physique.
The category’s champion was Ryan Terry from Britain, who took home the gold medal. Bilal was also runner-up at Mr. Olympia last year, but he claimed first place at the Arnold Classic, ascending to the top of the podium.
Following the conclusion of the Arnold Classic, Bilal announced in protest against the controversies surrounding those events that he would no longer participate in the competition.
It is noteworthy that Afghanistan has never had a bodybuilding athlete contending at the championship level in Mr. Olympia throughout its history. Bilal’s success is not only a personal milestone but also a pivotal moment in the nation’s sports legacy.
